Ali Shan - Fine Grade
Ali Shan - Fine Grade
One of the most famous tea mountains in Taiwan, this Alishan was awarded the “fine grade” in the Alishan Farmer’s Association Competition of 2022. The taste is remarkably clean and complex, somewhat buttery but with very pronounced top notes. We taste sesame butter, limestone mineral-ity, and orchid aromas. A really great tea which is at its prime after a year’s resting, we only imported a small amount.
The Alishan range in south-central Taiwan is famous for the high mountain (“gaoshan”) oolongs it produces. Though we tend to prefer teas from slightly further north (such as Shan Lin Xi and Li Shan), we find this to be an exceptional exemplar of what teas from this region can be. Situated at 1,600-4,000 feet, this is an ideal terroir for tea cultivation,
