Shui Xian (水仙), or Water Sprite, is another famous varietal of yan cha (rock tea) from the Wuyishan mountains in Fujian, China. It is one of the most famous and widely propagated varietals in and outside of the Wuyi area.

This tea placed second in the 2022 Northern Fujian Tea Competition (Tian Fu Bei Tea Competition), beating hundreds of other lots to be considered an “ideal” Shui Xian oolong. It displays a classic Shui Xian profile of lighter woodsy and floral fragrances atop a sandy and silty body. It is an extremely balanced tea which displays the best qualities the Shui Xian varietal is famous for.
