Manipur Gushu Black
Manipur Gushu Black
A truly unique tea, this is a wild old-tree black tea grown in the forests of Manipur, India. Manipur sits just south of Assam and shares a border with Myanmar. Thus, we find that this tea has some similarities with Assams - it brews an especially thick, viscous soup, with some surprising maltiness in the background. On the front of the palette, this tea suggests dried fruits, wild herbs, and tree sap. It is a burly and energizing tea which should be enjoyable to fans of both higher end Assams and wild grown Yunnan teas. We look forward to sampling and importing more teas from this area in the near future.
