Wakoucha Black
Wakoucha Black
A rare example of a Japanese black tea, the Wakoucha isn’t quite like any other tea in our collection. Made using the ubiquitous Yabukita cultivar, it is sweet and light, but with plenty of malt and subtle woodsy notes. Instead of being steamed as most Japanese teas are, the Wakoucha is withered for 16-17 hours before being rolled. Because Japan exports only a fraction of its total (mostly green) tea production, teas such as this are rarely found on the Western market.
