Rebecca Folsom: A Concert to Benefit Boulder Shelter for the Homeless

  • Trident Booksellers & Cafe 940 pearl street Boulder, CO 80302 USA (map)

Join singer-songwriter Rebecca Folsom and Tom Wassinger with special guests Dawnia Dresser and Kim Kopp at Trident Booksellers & Café for a special performance to benefit the Boulder Shelter for the Homeless.

Rebecca Folsom’s music is about liberation. Her songs crack open hearts, inspire hope, and leave listeners with a deeper perspective. Rebecca’s world-class voice traverses a near-four-octave range. KUNC radio describes it as “knock-you-to-your-knees.” The Daily Camera describes her music as “shining…with lush harmonies,” and Westword Magazine says, “Her songs hit like little earthquakes!”

Rebecca feels strongly that for humanity to thrive globally, the voices of all people must be heard. While writing her newest album, SANCTUARY, she reached out to established organizations representing marginalized communities. She hosted The Art of Vocal Freedom workshops, guiding participants in the discovery and expression of their unique voices, and then collaborated with the group in the writing of the songs for the album. The benefit concert will feature the performance of “Mercy,” a song born from a collaboration between Folsom and Shelter residents.

The Boulder Shelter for the Homeless is committed to creating avenues to stable housing for our community’s homeless adults, from a foundation of supportive and safe shelter. The Shelter uses a Housing First approach to minimize the length of time in shelter and connect people with stable housing as the solution to end their homelessness. Since it was founded in 1982, the Shelter has provided nearly one million bed nights to those in need. For more information about the Shelter, visit bouldershelter.org

Opening the show will be Dawnia Dresser and Kim Kopp.  The duo are moving musical storytellers who’s creative relationship and craft has evolved over 2 decades of playing together. From Colorado to California and back again, they continue to move audiences with their acoustic folk and Americana style originals and covers. Powerful vocal harmonies flow effortlessly around one another, taking you on a musical journey that connects, ignites and inspires.
