The Riverbreaks is a rock band known for its rowdy shows, lyrical depth, and provocative instrumentation. Formed in 2009 around songs Ryan Bailey (lead singer) wrote in Central America during his time in the Peace Corps, the band quickly developed a strong following in its home base of Washington, D.C. In 2012, the band recorded with acclaimed producer Chris Stamey (The dB’s, Whiskeytown, Alejandro Escovedo) in Chapel Hill, N.C., returning to the area where many of the band’s members originally met during their time at UNC-Chapel Hill. The resulting album Wildfire further propelled The Riverbreaks, which has since toured 26 states domestically and 14 countries internationally with long-term band members Bailey, Andrew Satten (keyboard), Jesse Prentice-Dunn (guitar), Drew Ball (bass), Danny Crawford (percussion), and Neela Rajendra (violin).
In 2014, Bailey relocated to his hometown of Nashville, where he began work on several releases, including How Still is the Night (2019), produced by Skylar Wilson (Justin Townes Earle, Kesha, and ABC’s drama Nashville) and Jordan Lehning (Caitlin Rose, Kacey Musgraves); Canyons (2020), produced by Ken Coomer (formerly of Wilco); and Little Dreams (2020), produced by Jon Estes (Steelism, Dolly Parton).
