A walk'n talk book event with Jonathon Stalls of WALK and Darcy Kitching of Best Urban Hikes: Boulder. The walking/rolling portion is optional. You can arrive between 5:45-6:00 pm for the pre-talk walk/roll or you can arrive between 6:45-7:00 pm for the talk, Q&A and book signing. See schedule below:
5:45-6:00 pm - Walkers Arrive - meet outside of Trident (use restroom beforehand!)
6:00-6:15 pm - Welcome & Introduction circle outside of Trident
6:15-6:45 pm - Walking loop (conversational pace 2-3 miles per hour, moving, but not rushing, along Boulder Creek paths, through downtown neighborhood streets, and along Pearl Street).
6:45-7:00 pm - Break, gather
7:00-7:30 pm - Presentation/Talk/Q&A with Jonathon & Darcy
7:30-8:00 pm - Books, signing, connection
JONATHON STALLS (he, his) spent 242 days walking across the United States in 2010 and has continued to walk alongside thousands of people for thousands of miles. He describes himself as a Walking Artist. He advocates and organizes for racial, economic, and social justice, identifies as LGBTQIA2S+ (queer/gay), is currently the creator of Intrinsic Paths and the Pedestrian Dignity campaign, and is the founder of Walk2Connect. Jonathon finished his studies at the Living School for Action and Contemplation in 2017. He has committed much of his life to helping people deepen their relationships to one another, to the natural world, and to themselves at an unhurried pace. His first book, WALK - Slow Down, Wake Up, & Connect at 1-3 Mile per Hour with North Atlantic Books will be released on August 16, 2022.
DARCY KITCHING works at the intersection of transportation planning, education, and community development with the goal of informing policy and programming that support active, healthy communities for people of all ages and abilities. She designs and leads weekly local walking events, conducts mixed-methods and community-engaged research projects, and writes and speaks about active transportation and child-friendly cities. In 2020, her trail guide, "The Best Urban Hikes: Boulder," was published by the Colorado Mountain Club Press, and she spoke about streets for activity and belonging at TEDxCherryCreek Countdown.
