SOFT ROCK FOR SPACE COWBOYS
Starlight and Pine are a husband-and-wife fronted folk-rock band from Colorado, formed in 2021.
Lead vocalist Amber Starlight O'Malley is the daughter of notable underground psychedelic folk singer Michele O'Malley, and grew up singing in her father's Jazz ensembles in Los Angeles. Writer/singer/guitarist Kim Godard is a music-school drop-out from Boulder, CO who met his future wife and muse in NYC while playing the East Village circuit in the mid-90s. It would be many years later, after raising two children and playing in numerous other bands, before they would finally join forces to perform their own original material as Starlight and Pine.
With a backlog of original songs consisting of equal parts introspective, stripped-down arrangements and driving folk-rock anthems, their music delivers atmosphere, pathos and addictive vocal melodies in spades.
Often combining tragic storylines and flowing folk-pop harmonies influenced by the likes of The Decemberists, The Shins and Lucinda Williams, their sound is at once familiar and mysterious, transporting the listener with a heady mixture of acoustic songwriter folk and 70s-era album rock with a modern pop sensibility.
John Mieras is a singer-songwriter grew up in the Pacific Northwest but has lived in Colorado so long, one would think he’s a native. With a voice as clear as a mountain stream, Jon’s music is characterized by a clear, introspective style with influences from the singer-songwriter genre, to classical, to a hint of the bluegrass and finger-style sound his grandfather originally taught him.
One of John's notable achievements is being a finalist in the Great American Song Contest in the singer-songwriter category, with his song titled "Yesterday (I Wish There Was a Way).” Released on his EP “Painted Glass”.
John draws inspiration from various sources, including his family, students, fellow songwriters, and the captivating allure of music itself.
