Local Poets: April Tierney & Radha Marcum

Local poets, April Tierney and Radha Marcum put out their new poetry collections, Matter/Mother and Pine Soot Tendon Bone, within a few weeks of each other. Now, they are coming together for one wild and beautiful night at Trident to share these new works with our community. Please grab a drink and join us on our back patio on Tuesday September 10th at 7PM. Copies of their collections can be purchased in the bookstore. 

April Tierney is a poet, activist, craftswoman, mother, and lover of stories. She is the author of four full length collections of poetry, including Memory Keeper (Wayfarer Books 2022) and a contributor in several anthologies. April has been nominated for The Pushcart Prize and featured in Orion MagazineDeep Times: A Journal of the Work that ReconnectsClarion Poetry Magazine, and Real Ground Journal, among others. She also guides nature-based writing classes for adults and kids as well as seasonal art making workshops.

Radha Marcum won the 2023 Washington Prize for her collection Pine Soot Tendon Bone (2024). She was also awarded the New Mexico Book Award in 2018 for her first collection of poems, Bloodline (2017), about her grandfather’s work building the first atomic bombs in New Mexico during World War II. Her poems appear frequently in journals including Bennington Review, EcoTheo, FIELD, North American Review, Notre Dame Review, Pleiades, and Poetry Northwest, among others. She is the founder of Poet to Poet and teaches at the Lighthouse Writers Workshop and privately.
