This high quality organic genmaicha (玄米茶) was made with 50% first flush Kagoshima Sencha and 50% roasted brown rice from Hokkaido. It is a pleasing, mellow, rich and unpretentious green tea which is somewhat lower in caffeine thanks to being cut with brown rice. Its taste is sweet, nutty, and vegetal. This is a much higher grade, authentic, fully organic genmaicha than others on the market.

Genmaicha is historically known as a “peasant tea” because it was much cheaper to drink tea when cut with rice. It is popular throughout Japan and famous for its rich and warming flavors. We recommend this for fans of Japanese teas looking for a comforting brew.
