Sencha Asanoka

$10.00

The early-budding Asanoka cultivar was developed in the mid-90’s as a cross between Japan’s famous Yabukita bush and a robust Chinese varietal called Hiramizu #1. It is a rich and powerful sencha tea with distinct fruity and floral characteristics. A great choice for Japanese tea fans looking for something a little different, it should be brewed carefully and with a light touch in order to bring out its nuances.

This sencha is a Fukamushicha, or “deep-steamed tea”. It was steamed for about a minute longer than is normal in order to deepen the sweetness and the umami of the tea. Due to the rougher processing, the leaves become more delicate and are subject to breakage, also resulting in a stronger brew. We recommend shorter steepings for this one.
