Sencha Saemidori
Sencha Saemidori
Saemidori is a tea cultivar that is a cross between the more elegant Asatsuyu and more hardy Yabukita varietals. Being heat resistant, it is grown in the more southern prefectures of Japan, especially Kagoshima.
Our Saemidori sencha is exquisitely well-balanced, with strong up-front springtime and ocean-y flavors atop a dense and creamy tea-soup. Because it is shaded for 11 days before harvest, it is especially sweet and mellow, with very little bitterness. This is an excellent easy-to-drink sencha suitable for everyday brewing or a more focused tea ceremony.
